Spoilers ahead, everyone's probably finished at this point, but I figured I'd give a heads up anyway
Did anyone really find The Haunting of Hill House scary? I felt like the book did a very good job building up the tension and setting the atmosphere, but I felt like this never actually led to anything. The actual supernatural events like the banging on the door, and the writing on the wall, seemed kind of disappointing to me. And by the time Eleanor commits suicide at the end, I wasn't surprised by it, not that I could see it coming from a mile away or anything, but I just wasn't surprised.
On another note I was also disappointed that nothing terrifying happened to Mrs. Montague or Arthur. Not that it would have made the story better or anything, I just really wanted something to happen to them.
