Good God, it took him long enough!

I don't know how interested yall are in the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini but it was something I picked up many years ago (Eragon was published around 2002-2003 when I was 12). I love dragons and magic and really enjoy this series. I think he gets better with each novel and after Brisingr came out I was more than a little impatient for his FINAL installment. Dadgum it, it feels like it's taken forever! 3 YEARS!!! But he recently announced that the final book, Inheritance, is coming out November 8. Is anyone else excited? Yall, I have been checking his site religiously hoping I'd get a release date. It's beyond pathetic.

OMIGOSH YES I'M EXCITED!
I know Katy will be too. We frequently wonder aloud when the next one will finally show its head in the sea of books we want to read, and thanks to this blog I know now!
YAY DRAGONS! I'm really excited to see how he wraps everything up. Hopefully it's not too cliche.

I actually didn't read them until last year, so I guess my wait hasn't been as terribly as others. However, I have been dying for the next one since I finished Brisingr! I'm so excited you posted this, or else I might have never known!

Never read these books, but I'm sure they are ever so lovely. On a somewhat-related note, have any of you read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series? Wonderful dragon stories. A little short on the magic though... Regardless, they are classic dragon stories and certainly worth a look.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY. It really did take him long enough. The last one came out in September of 2008. And that came out I think a year or MAYBE 2 after Eldest. 3 years is too long to wait! But I bet you it's going to be really long because he still had a lot of stuff to clear up. So it should be great :)

I had almost forgot about this series it has been so long, I'm going to need to reread this series to refresh myself on it for the final book.

John is absolutely right to recommend the Dragonriders of Pern series! It is absolutely fantastic, in both senses of the word, and does a fantastic job of mixing in Science Fiction elements! If for no other reason, a number of people in this class should check them out.

In regards to Paolini, I am less than thrilled about the Inheritance cycle. I enjoyed the first book, though it was a bit old hat. The second book didn't really bring anything new to the table, but I was eagerly awaiting the third book to wrap up the series. I read the third book, got two-thirds of the way through and stopped to ask myself how he could possibly tie up the loose ends with so few pages remaining, and found out that it had gone from being a trilogy to being a cycle! Grrr...
