Paper Thoughts

So I was thinking about what Andy said in class last week about the connotations of a ghost story and the end results. I really liked the thought that if you don't go into a story with the expectation of it being scary, then it's not. I would also love to make Schrodinger's cat not just something gross that I had to learn in PChem. So I was thinking of discussing "Luella Miller" and possibly "The Haunting of Hill House" and their affects on the reader.

What do you guys think? I think I've got enough to make it through a paper, but I'm not terribly sure. Also, is this a paper where we need to be citing other essays and whatnot?

Thanks!

Yeaahhh, I'm wondering about the sources myself... but I will say I love the Schrodinger's cat angle. Sounds interesting. :D

I think you would definitely have a solid paper here, especially with these two stories. As far as sources go, last semester I cited the stories from class that I was using as well as one outside source per paper that I was using as a comparison. As far as I know, you don't NEED to cite outside material, but you can. Of course Andy is the final authority on such things.

I agree with John on everything. There is certainly enough to go on, just be careful that it may be too much. You may want to have a more narrow approach, but I am sure that will be better discussed in class.

Additionally, I think John is exactly right, I don't think outside sources are required, but when I took Andy's sci-fi I included a couple outside sources in my papers as well.

I think this is a really interesting paper topic! It applies to both stories. I know when I went into reading Luella Miller I wasn't expecting a succubus, but was scarily surprised. The haunting left me on edge to be scared but never was. Like I already said, great topic!
