Evening everyone. How are we all doing today? Good? Great.
Want to guess how I spent my weekend (well, part of it anyway)? At the good ol' Georgia Renaissance Festival, of course! My girlfriend and I spent all day Sunday wandering among the shops and shows of the Festival as we have every spring/summer for a while now (forgot the camera, so no pictures. Sad, I know.). It's quite the past-time, getting dressed up in costume to go see some of the best, most entertaining off-color comedy around and eating food on a stick. Everything is on a stick at the Renaissance Festival! Even the people would be if they let them use pointy lances in the joust... Anyway, I thought this would be a topic of potential interest in a fantasy-oriented class (especially with things like the Game of Thrones coming out and all).
So has anyone else been to the Festival? Or any other festivals? Any interest in going to one? Link's in the title if you're interested!

I LOVE Renaissance festivals!
I went to the annual one in Florence, Ala. last year, and have several times over the years, usually with my grandparents. The atmosphere is just so fun and I love seeing everyone dressed in the period clothing. Last year I got a huge surprise at seeing one of my best girlfriends from high school swoardfighting! In Florence a lot of the students from the University of North Alabama are very involved with the fair and it's a ton of fun to go around all the little vendors and things. I almost always have to buy some kind of hand-crafted piece of jewelry. I got a really cool hand-carved jade necklace pendant in the shape of a leaf last time.
Also, I want to watch Game of Thrones but alas, I have not the HBO and none of my usual online TV haunts have it. Sigh.
Oy. I wish I could go. In theory I could the weekend before finals week, but that would probably just be an extreme form of procrastination. We'll see what happens, though... *crosses fingers* Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I had no idea that these existed for such long periods of time.
I LOVE the GA renaissance festival. I used to go there every year.
Well I'll be headed back a time or two again this season, and you're all welcome to join if still interested. Just hit me up on them internets.
And Jordan, when does the one in Florence happen?
UGH! I am actually really jealous over this. To my knowledge, there has never ben a RenFaire anywhere near Niceville, so I have never had the opportunity. It seems like a great way to spend an afternoon. John, if you go in the fall, perhaps you can let me know!
